Which Dinosaur came first? The Diplodocus, The Stegosaurus or The Triceratops?
The 'Age of Dinosaurs' (the Mesozoic Era) included three consecutive geologic time periods (the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous Periods).
The Diplodocus and the Stegosaurus both lived during the Jurassic Period, a time when dinosaurs grew to gigantic sizes and dominated the Earth. There was a small extinction at the end of the Jurassic that Palaeontologist’s still know little about.
The Triceratops roamed the Earth during the Cretaceous period, alongside the T-rex, dinosaur dominance continued as the continents moved farther apart. The Cretaceous period ended with the Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-Pg) extinction event, when a 6-mile-wide asteroid collided with Earth, leaving an impact crater more than 110 miles in diameter in the Yucatan Peninsula of what is now Mexico.
